"When grief feels overwhelming, try counselling"

Sarah

Sarah is a counsellor with her own practice. When Sarah’s Dad dies, she turned to Longfield for bereavement counselling.

My Dad was the glue of the family and his death was a huge loss. Two days after he died, I was with my sister and Mum arranging the funeral, when my partner had a heart attack. I thought I was going to be dealing with a double bereavement. Thankfully, he made a full recovery, but the stress stayed with me. I went back to work without a break or having processed any of the trauma.

I started seeing my counsellor at Longfield, three months after Dad died. I never once felt like a counsellor with Emma. That was a joy because I needed to leave my job behind. The support Emma offered was brilliant, it helped me cope with big, raw emotions and move forward. Thank you so much to Emma and to all of you for just being there. I will continue to sing your praises.”
