Wellbeing Centre Volunteer – Creative Writing
Location: Minchinhampton
Time Commitment: 3 hours a week
Longfield Hospice is looking for a volunteer with a passion for creative writing. We seek a person who would be comfortable to lead and guide a small group of patients and carers to express themselves through creative writing. You would be joined by another longstanding volunteer, who has experience of this group. We will be open to hearing thoughts on the length of the group and frequency in a year as this will depend on the content you wish to provide.
As a Wellbeing Centre Volunteer at Longfield, you’ll play a crucial role in providing wellbeing sessions to our patients, carers and family supporters, providing a warm welcome to attendees, and helping them feel comfortable and engaged. Your tasks will include taking attendance, assisting with refreshments, and ensuring a safe and accessible environment, as well as leading the group through the process and creativity of writing, whether that be storytelling, letter writing, poetry or prose.
Through your calm, approachable manner and good observational skills, you’ll help create a nurturing space for individuals facing life-limiting conditions, contributing to their sense of community and connection during each session.
