Make a Will -September 2024

Local solicitors give their time for free, to make a will, in exchange for a donation to Longfield Community Hospice.

Make a Will Month gives you the opportunity to make your Will, whilst supporting local hospice care for people throughout Gloucestershire.

This year, solicitor firms across Gloucestershire are kindly waiving their fees to prepare Wills in return for a donation to Longfield Community Hospice. Appointments will be undertaken during the month of September, with solicitors available to book for September from 1st of May 2024. All money kindly donated will directly support the care of local people every day.

Suggested donations are a minimum £90.00 for a straightforward single Will or £160 for an uncomplicated pair of mirror Wills, and you are welcome to donate more.

Please discuss with your solicitor beforehand if you have a complex Will. Additional fees may be applicable and agreed with you prior to proceeding.

Why write your Will?

Writing or reviewing your Will is one of the most important things you can do. Having an up-to-date copy makes it much easier for your loved ones to follow your wishes when you’re gone. If you don’t have a valid Will, everything you own will be shared following certain rules, rather than according to your personal wishes.

If at least 10% of your taxable estate is left to a charity, the inheritance tax rate for the rest of your estate drops from 40% to 36%. There is no obligation to leave us a gift but, if you choose to, you’ll make a real difference to the lives of those that need specialist care for generations to come.
