Trizia

When Trizia decided to become a nurse, her family agreed it was the perfect profession. “She was incredibly caring,” says Anna-Maria, one of her sisters. “She was always looking for opportunities to make a difference.”

After training at Cheltenham General Hospital, Trizia joined Longfield (then called Cotswold Care) in 1992. She became a well-loved member of the hospice, known for her energy and humour, as well as the respect and compassion she showed each person who walked through our doors.

Longfield was fortunate to have King Charles – formerly known as The Prince of Wales – as our patron for many years. During her time with us, Trizia met the future monarch several times. After work, she would call her sisters and say: “Charlie came in today!”

On one memorable visit, Trizia received a phone call while she was busy to say the prince was delayed in traffic. “She was heard to utter a few choice words down the phone, not realising his aide was on the other end,” says Anna-Maria. “As you can imagine, she was mortified. The prince heard in the background and thought it was very funny!”

Trizia stayed with Longfield for a number of years, rising in seniority to lead nurse. “She found her calling with you,” says Anna-Maria. “She was deeply proud of her work at the hospice.”

Sadly, Trizia died in 2023, leaving a huge hole in her family that can never be filled. “We think of her every single day,” says Anna-Maria. While organising Trizia’s affairs, the family discovered she had left a gift to Longfield in her Will.

We invited Anna-Maria and her siblings to Longfield to talk about Trizia and demonstrate the impact of her generous gift. Thanks to wonderful donors like Trizia, we’re now caring for more local people than ever before
