Oaksey Park Golf Club Captain’s Charity Day this year has raised a brilliant sum of £6,067 for Longfield Community Hospice which supports people and families in Gloucestershire who need palliative or end-of-life healthcare.
On a beautiful late summer day, 18 teams of 4 met up for a bacon roll, tea and coffee before they went around the course for a shotgun start and 18 holes of golf. The winning team was ‘Dance with the Devil’ and the runners-up were ‘The Also Rans’. Trophies were presented to the winning team and medals were awarded to ‘Nearest the Pin’ – Matt House and ‘Straightest Drive’ – Steve Brown.
After the golf challenge, a charity Auction was held with over 30 lots, many kindly donated by local businesses and generous members. This was followed by an exciting raffle that had over 80 prizes.
After the formalities, a BBQ was available to the 72 players, their families and other golf club members.
It proved another great and successful day at Oaksey Park that was enjoyed by all those who attended.
This week, Club Captain Dean Hammersley along with Competition Secretary, Barry Gunton, Oaksey Park Director, Cameron Cooper, Welfare Officer, Michael Bosworth presented the cheque to Louise Cook, Head of Fundraising, Gemma Shaw, Head of Hospice at Home, Kirsty Murray, Community and Events Officer, Elaine Harris and Chrissie Howse – Cirencester Support Group.
Thank you so much to Oaksey Park Golf Club and the amazing ongoing support of our Cirencester Supporters Group – what a phenomenal amount of money raised for our care.
