His Royal Highness who has been Longfield’s patron since its opening in 1990 has sent a very special message of support for our urgent work at this critical time. From our Patron, HRH The Prince of Wales:
The current situation is putting every part of our society under pressure and Longfield is no different. Whilst the hospice is rising to the immediate challenge and supporting the work of the NHS, we must do everything in our power to be here to deliver free care and support for patients with life-limiting illness and their families next week, next month and for the years to come.
The virus is already having a detrimental effect on hospice income and could, in the longer-term, threaten the hospice’s viability for future patients and their loved ones.
With 85% of funding coming from voluntary support, the closure of our retail shops plus the cancellation of many community fundraising and hospice events, is hitting us hard.
With your commitment, we will be able to provide the same levels of personal, round-the-clock care, not only during the current crisis but long into the future.
Longfield has delivered the best possible end-of-life care for over 30 years to many thousands of patients and families; now is the time for us to pull together as a community to ensure Longfield Hospice is here for future generations. Your support is more vital than ever.
Let’s beat this virus together.
