Come and join us for the return of the Stroud Half Marathon on Sunday 27th October 2024!
This year, Longfield Community Hospice returns as the official charity partner for the Stroud Half Marathon. To celebrate we have 25 FREE places for people who pledge £45 in donations or sponsorship to support those in our community with a life-limiting illness and help provide vital support for their families and carers.
The Stroud Half Marathon welcomes runners of all abilities to come together to challenge themselves to the 13.1-mile race, with streets lined by cheering crowds! Although not flat, the course is a great place for a fast time. Suitable for racers, recreational runners, and novices alike.
Ally Edwards, Longfield’s Volunteer Services Advisor has booked her place and will be running, alongside her friend Hayley, to support the charity she works at. Ally has a target to run the 13 miles in 2hrs 45mins which is ambitious as she has never taken on Stroud Half Marathon before and is busy training for the event.
Ally said, ‘ I am running in support of our amazing volunteers and supporters who day in and day out help keep the hospice going either by helping to raise funds or by giving their time for free. Last year they devoted 48,819 hours of their time saving over £463,780 which is just incredible. In my role I get to meet so many wonderful people from a variety of backgrounds who help in so many ways from volunteering in our shops or the hospice to driving our patients. Any money I raise will help the hospice to keep providing care to the people who need it across the county. I urge anyone who likes to run or would like a challenge to take up one the Longfield places and help their local hospice.’
Each runner will receive a FREE Longfield sports t-shirt and dedicated support from our fundraising team when you sign up so with just 25 places up for grabs don’t delay!
Whether you’re looking to increase your fitness, beat your personal best or push yourself to the limit for charity, this is a fantastic opportunity for all.
