Volunteers with Vans Needed for Our Christmas Treecycle Appeal
Got a van? We need volunteers with vans to help make Longfield’s Christmas Treecycle Appeal happen in January, in partnership with JustHelping.
Our Christmas Treecycle collection starts on Sunday 10 January 2027 and continues throughout the week to collect all registered Christmas trees. Collections will take place across the following postcode areas: GL2 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7), GL3 (4, 9), GL4, GL5, GL6, GL7 (0, 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 9), GL8, GL10, GL11, GL12 and GL13 so if you can support us in these areas, we would love to hear from you.
We’re looking for volunteers with vans across Gloucestershire – whether you’re a company, an individual, a group of friends, or community organisation. Do you have a removal truck, flatbed truck or another suitable vehicle? Even better! Bring your vehicle and bring a crew, get your colleagues involved, or join a collection team as an individual to help collect thousands of real Christmas trees from local homes and make a real difference in your community.
Last Christmas we collected more than 4500 trees and raised more than £76,000 for Longfield’s services.

Ideally, we’re looking for teams of volunteers with vans or another suitable vehicles and teams of around three people that can support for a day or two. If you have a team but don’t have a suitable vehicle, please still get in touch – there are other ways to volunteer. And if you’re able to volunteer for more than one day, we’d love to hear from you, as every extra day helps us collect more trees and raise more funds. Furthermore, if you’d like to sponsor a van then each van (to hire) costs around £200.
Please note: Taking part in a Christmas tree collection involves physical, outdoor work, including lifting, loading and unloading Christmas trees. If this type of volunteering isn’t suitable for you, there are other, non-physical ways you can support our Christmas Treecycle Appeal.
Other Ways to get involved
You don’t need to be volunteers with vans to take part of our Christmas Treecycle Appeal either. We need people of all ages and abilities to help make the appeal a success, including opportunities to support the appeal in non-physical ways. Get in touch to find out how you can help at Christmas.trees@longfield.org.uk or fill out the form below.
A Corporate Volunteering Day with a Difference
Getting involved is a practical way to get your team involved in the local community. Christmas Treecycle offers businesses the chance to make their corporate volunteering day really count. At the end of the appeal we can provide your company with a range of facts and figures on how many trees they collected as well as the positive impact they had on CO2 emissions.
If your organisation has access to a van, removal truck or other suitable vehicle, bring your colleagues together and take on a Christmas tree collection route. Corporate volunteering teams with access to suitable vehicles can help us reach more homes, collect more trees and raise more funds for Longfield.
Whether you have one vehicle or a larger fleet, you can volunteer for a day or support Treecycle across multiple collection days. We’re particularly keen to hear from organisations that can provide both volunteers with vans or other suitable vehicles and a team of people to help with collections.
Give us a van. Give us a crew. Give us a day.
why your support Matters
Christmas Treecycle is a huge operation and, as our largest fundraising appeal, we need as many volunteers as possible to help make it a success, particulary volunteers with vans. Every extra volunteer means we can collect more Christmas trees, reach more homes and raise more vital funds for Longfield.
The money raised helps us provide free-of-charge Hospice at Home, Counselling, Bereavement Support and Living Well Services to people across Gloucestershire living with a life-limiting diagnosis, as well as support for their families and loved ones.
We could not provide this support when it matters most without the generosity and commitment of our local community. By volunteering for The Christmas Treecycle Appeal, you’re helping us turn a huge community effort into vital care and support for local people.
