Runners urged to take on the Stroud Half Marathon and 10k to support Longfield Community Hospital

Local runners are encouraged to lace up and take on the Stroud Half Marathon or Stroud 10k on Sunday 25 October 2026, while raising vital funds for Longfield Community Hospice.

The Stroud Half Marathon is a fast, predominantly flat road course, starting and finishing on Cainscross Road by Marling School. With a gentle rise around miles six and seven, the route offers runners the opportunity to chase a personal best or simply enjoy the atmosphere of a major local race.

Alongside the half marathon, the Stroud 10k provides a fast-paced, point-to-point challenge, starting on Grove Lane before finishing at Marling School. With closed roads, enthusiastic support and a fantastic race-day atmosphere, it is ideal for runners looking to take on their first 10k, improve their time, or simply enjoy the experience.

Beth Temple is running for Longfield and says the charity has a special place in her heart:

“I’m fundraising to say thank you for the support Longfield gave to a good friend of mine, when she was caring for her husband. We’re lucky to have Longfield in our community and I’m proud to be supporting the amazing work they do.”

There are two ways to take part in the Stroud Half Marathon:

  • Charity place: Apply directly to run for Longfield. Charity places are free, with a minimum fundraising target of £200. Places are limited.
  • Your own place: Enter the race directly through Race Nation for £31.50 and select Longfield as your chosen charity. There is no minimum fundraising target – runners are simply encouraged to raise what they can.

Longfield will be there on race day, cheering runners on at the water station and finish line. Everyone running for the charity, whether in the 10k or half marathon, will receive support from Longfield before the race and on the big day. Runners receive a free Longfield T-shirt and running vest, a fundraising pack and sponsorship materials. The runner with the highest sponsorship will also win a complimentary sports massage.
