Our Trustees
Dr. Sally Pearson
is a senior healthcare leader with over three decades of experience in the NHS. A graduate of Leeds University, she began her career in medicine in 1984 and became a Consultant in Public Health Medicine in 1992. Dr. Pearson has held several influential roles, including Director of Public Health and Director of Clinical Strategy at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She currently chairs the South West Clinical Senate, where she provides expert guidance on major service transformations. Known for her strategic insight and commitment to clinical excellence, she also serves as HPAN Lead and Responsible Officer at NHS Resolution.
Professor Jane Melton
is an occupational therapist and healthcare leader with a history of international collaboration as a practitioner, researcher, educator, strategic leader, and author. She graduated from the Welsh School of Occupational Therapy in Cardiff in 1987, later earning a Master’s degree from the University of Exeter and a PhD from City University, London. Jane worked for the UK’s National Health Service for more than 30 years including as a Consultant Occupational Therapist and as a clinical Executive Director.
Since leaving NHS practice, Jane has held Allied Health Profession leadership positions at an Integrated Health Board, for NHS England and for Health Education England as well as leading health and care research development at the University of Gloucestershire. In 2014 and 2021, Jane was selected as an Impact Assessor for the UK’s Research Excellence Framework.
Currently, Jane provides research supervision and education at the University of Gloucestershire, Swansea University, and the University of Southampton. Jane is also a Trustee of The Elizabeth Casson Trust.
Jane brings her lived experience of being a carer for a family member with a life-limiting illness to her personal commitment to her role at Longfield.
James Pullin
graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Business Economics from the University of Salford and completed an Executive MBA in Global Energy at Warwick Business School. He has over 20 years of commercial and strategic leadership experience in the renewable energy and sustainability sectors. James has held senior roles across a range of organisations, driving innovation and growth in areas such as solar PV, energy procurement, and integrated low-carbon technologies. He is currently General Manager at Noble Green Energy, overseeing the delivery of large-scale renewable energy projects across manufacturing, logistics, and food production. At Longfield Hospice, James serves as a Trustee and chairs the Income Generation Committee, applying his business insight and leadership expertise to support fundraising, governance, and long-term sustainability. His commitment to community wellbeing and compassionate care underpins his dedication to ensuring the hospice continues delivering vital end-of-life services across Gloucestershire.
Caroline Marrow
is a retired Chartered Physiotherapist, who served as Head of Service and Research Governance for a local NHS Trust. She contributed to various committees at local and regional levels for Research and Development and at a national level for the Chartered Society regarding CPD, Postural Care for People with profound and multiple disabilities and physiotherapy for people with learning disabilities. She now runs a small fabric, wool and haberdashery shop in Dursley and is an active member of the church and other local groups. This gives her more time to spend with her family and camping with her grandsons who affectionately call her Naughty Nanna!
Martin Moule
is an experienced finance executive and trustee with a long career in the financial services sector. A Mathematics graduate from the University of Bristol and a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, Martin has held senior leadership roles at major firms including Zurich Financial Services, St. James’s Place and Unum. Now based in Kemble, Gloucestershire, he contributes his expertise to the charitable sector as a trustee of Young Gloucestershire and Longfield Hospice, supporting governance and strategic development.
Susan Ratcliffe
is a highly experienced Patent and Trade Mark Attorney based in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, with a distinguished career spanning both private practice and in-house legal functions. With a robust background in Patent Prosecution, Dispute Resolution, Arbitration, and IP Commercialisation & Strategy, she brings a strategic and commercially focused approach to intellectual property law.
In addition to her legal practice, Susan has made significant contributions to the education sector, having lectured extensively on Intellectual Property Law. She has served as a Visiting Professor, and in particular has lectured on International IP laws and conventions, sharing her expertise with the next generation of legal professionals.
Beyond her professional achievements, Sue is actively engaged in her local community. She has held leadership and trustee roles in several Gloucestershire-based organizations, including the Cheltenham Science Festival, Stroud Valleys Project, Longfield Hospice Care, and SVP Eco Shop, reflecting her commitment to environmental sustainability and social impact.
Gerald Dawson
is a highly experienced finance professional, non-executive director, and board advisor with over 30 years of leadership in consumer-focused businesses. A Chartered Accountant (FCA), Gerald has built a distinguished career helping founder-led and private equity-backed brands grow sustainably, improve profitability, and navigate successful exits.
Currently, Gerald serves as Chair and CFO of TruffleHunter, a premium food manufacturer, and holds board roles with AYM Studio and The Union Project—both innovative fashion brands. His portfolio career allows him the flexibility to contribute meaningfully to the charitable sector, where he is also a trustee of Mindsong, a Gloucestershire-based music therapy charity.
Gerald’s earlier executive roles include Finance Director at Forthglade Foods and Weird Fish Clothing, where he led significant turnarounds and strategic growth initiatives. He has also held senior leadership positions at Long Tall Sally, The Cotswold Company, and Amazon, bringing a wealth of experience in digital commerce, brand development, and operational transformation.
A Cheltenham resident, Gerald has a long-standing connection to Longfield Hospice and a deep appreciation for its mission. He brings to the board a calm, steady presence, a sharp financial mind, and a warm sense of humour. His previous governance experience includes a two-year term as trustee at Denmark Road High School in Gloucester.
Gerald holds a BSc in Accounting from the University of Wales and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PwC.
Chris Boden
is a retired NHS professional who served as the Professional Head of Service and General Manager at Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust. With a clinical background in podiatry, he played a pivotal role in shaping and managing community health services across the region. Throughout his career, Chris was known for his leadership in service development and his commitment to improving patient care. Chris completed a PhD in 2008 which proposed an alternative holistic model for healthcare. Now retired, he remains respected for his contributions to healthcare in Gloucestershire.
Kath Rooksby
Katherine is a senior NHS leader with extensive experience shaping health and care services across England. Currently Urgent Community Response co-lead for NHS England South West, she ensures high‑quality personalised care at home and leads regional End of Life work. She previously led the South West End of Life Strategic Clinical Network, expanding its membership tenfold and creating the first regional CYP Palliative and End of Life Care Network. Her career spans national carers policy, quality and safety oversight, personalised care workforce development, mental health, education, and public engagement. Katherine is a compassionate, strategic leader committed to meaningful system change and is passionate about what matters most to create the right environment for us all to live well and die well.
Adrian Ash
Adrian is a recently retired global IT Managing Director for the Health and Benefits business at Willis Towers Watson, where he held several senior leadership roles. Prior to joining Willis Towers Watson, Adrian spent several years in the financial services sector with Barclays Bank and Nationwide Building Society.
As a Trustee of Longfield Hospice, Adrian is committed to leveraging extensive business management experience and a passion for working with people to help the hospice achieve its goals and ensure long-term sustainability. Adrian’s dedication is strengthened by personal experience, having witnessed the hospice’s end-of-life care provided to a close family member. In addition to serving as Trustee, Adrian volunteers as a van driver at the hospice’s warehouse. Adrian holds an MBA from Henley Management College.
