Longfield Community Hospice’s Ale Amble made a welcome return to Stroud Brewery on Saturday. Nearly 200 people took part in this popular event, raising over £4,400 for our local care.
Despite snowy weather earlier in the week and muddy conditions underfoot, the keen supporters enjoyed a four-mile circular walk before returning to the brewery for a well-deserved pint in front of the Six Nations Rugby.
Kirsty Murray, Fundraising Officer for Longfield, organised the event. She said:
“It’s been fantastic to see so many people enjoying themselves today, all supporting their local hospice. The atmosphere’s been amazing, and we’re delighted to have raised over £4,400. It’s fundraising like this that means we can continue to provide the best possible free care for Longfield’s patients and their families. I’d like to thank Howard Tenens Logistics for sponsoring the event, and everyone who came along and made the day such a success.”
Longfield is a Community Hospice based in Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire. As well as providing Hospice at Home care, we also offer help and support to patients, families and carers through a range of Wellbeing services at the hospice.
The loved ones of local Stroud man, David Brech, were one of the many families who took part on Saturday. His daughter, Anna, said:
“We’re forever grateful to the brilliant Longfield team for looking after Dad in the final weeks of his life.
The support we received from Longfield enabled us to care for Dad at home, surrounded by his family. The team went above and beyond, looking after him with huge dignity, humour and empathy. We couldn’t have done it without them, and were delighted to take part in the Ale Amble and fundraise so others can access this lifeline service.”
