His Majesty King Charles III (formerly HRH The Prince of Wales), opened Longfield’s first building in 1990 (then known as Cotswold Care Hospice). On December 22, 2008, he opened the charity’s new state-of-the-art building.
At the opening, His Majesty said: “I have been coming here in one way or another for 20 years and I am so pleased to be here today.
“So much effort and hard work has made it possible to build this care hospice. I do realise how much effort goes into all of this.
“This building has made a great difference to all the people here. The staff here make a huge difference to all the patients who come in.
“It is pleasing this remarkable service can be provided in this part of the country.”
