Richard E. Grant appeared as the special guest at a charity event organised by Longfield Community Hospice held at the Electric Picture House in Wotton-under-Edge on Saturday 22 October.

The event, which sold out within hours, was a chance for the much-loved actor to share stories from his life, career and extracts from his new book: A Pocketful of Happiness. Following a lively talk and book signing, the audience was treated to a screening of the film ‘Everybody’s Talking about Jamie’ which features Richard in a starring role.

Richard’s wife, Joan, sadly died in 2021. She was cared for in her final weeks by Longfield’s Hospice at Home team.

Susan Parris, Director of Care Services at Longfield, said:

“I’d like to thank Richard for supporting Longfield by appearing at this fantastic event. As a charity, we rely on the public for 85% of our income to enable us to provide free care, 365 days a year. This year we want to care for even more people in Gloucestershire living with a life-limiting illness, and provide support for their families and carers too.”

The event was kindly sponsored by Renishaw plc, with support from Amazon Prime and the Electric Picture House in Wotton-under-Edge, who donated all proceeds of ticket sales to the hospice.
